What Obama Should Do to Hillary

When Hillary Clinton conceded the nomination, she made it clear that she would welcome the second slot on the Democratic ticket. But she comes with some high negatives. She is a very polarizing figure, the one Republicans love to hate. After eight years in the White House and two terms in the Senate, she still has been unable to reach across the great divide and pass her health care legislation.

And then there is the issue of her First Laddie. Between them, they have more baggage than a gaggle of carpet baggers.

Barack Obama will have his hands full convincing the naysayers that he has what it takes to unite this divided country and heal the gaping wounds. He needs to concentrate all of his energy on pulling the various fractious factions together for the good of the people, the good of the country, and the good of the world. The last thing he needs is the long shadow of the Billary cloud hovering over the Oval Office.

The problem is, if she is not on the ticket, her supporters are threatening to cross over and vote for John McCain, possibly throwing the election in the Right direction.

Barack is literally caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place. Dem'ed if he does; Dem'ed if he doesn't. No matter which way he chooses, it will be the wrong decision.

There is only one thing he can do. Bench her. Barack has to appoint Hillary to the Supreme Court.

George W. has packed the High Court with activist judges, trying to do a full-court press on the neoconstitution. Democracy itself hangs in the balance.

The Supreme Court is filled with megagenarians just hanging on long enough for a Left-leaning Liberal to appoint some birds of a feather. Barack should announce, right up front, that a vote for Barack is a vote for Hillary on the Supreme Court. Then, she should hitch her harness to the Obama bandwagon and rally her troops around him. That would unify the Democratic Party and virtually guarantee a win in November.

And in the end, everyone would happy. She would get what she wants: a long-lasting legacy. Her supporters would be satisfied that her prodigious talents were not wasted, and that their hard work had not been in vain. And he would get some breathing room. Everyone would win and no one would lose - a true win-win-win situation.

And, as it turns out, what is good for Hillary would be good for America. Instead of languishing for the next eight years playing second fiddle in an a'cappella choir, attending state funerals and hosting teas, she would be so much more fulfilled, as well as effective, suited up in a robe, doing what she has wanted to do all along, which is protecting reproductive rights, and defending civil liberties.

Plus, she has all the qualifications necessary to be a Supreme Court Justice: 1. Basic black is her color. 2. She already has a string of tasteful miniature pearls to wear. And 3. She looks better in a dress than she does in a pantsuit.
